Innovating needs-based medical technologies for emerging markets

Commercially available medical devices frequently fail in resource-constrained hospitals  due to unique design constraints including power instability, internet access, space limitations, lower nurse to patient ratios, and the availability of spare parts. Vulnerable patients suffer from this strain—80% of the 2.5 million newborn deaths in emerging markets, for example, are preventable with timely recognition of distress and appropriate treatment.

The Neopenda neoGuardTM is a wearable vital signs monitor designed to enable more responsive and appropriate medical care of patients in resource-constrained facilities. Our reusable smart headband continuously measures four critical vital signs, and data from multiple devices are wirelessly displayed on a tablet in real time.

Health workers are alerted when vitals go outside the healthy range so that they can attend to patients in distress immediately and give them the best chance to survive and thrive. Originally designed for neonates, Neopenda has adapted neoGuardTM for adults to help combat COVID-19. Vital signs measures include pulse rate, respiration rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature.

Neopenda is looking for distributors and healthcare  partners across East Africa and in Nigeria.
